When Aaron and I recorded Ghost Owl, way back in 2021, we began to get gig offers. As Ghost Owl is an instrumental album, we were asked if we do songs with singing. The answer is, of course, yes. But we felt it might be helpful to record a few of those songs so venues and audiences know what they're getting. We went into a studio and a couple days later we discovered we've recorded a whole album. Just me and Aaron playing and singing live in the studio. Really fun. We call it Ready For The Times and it features songs from across the folk-roots-swing spectrum.....and it has a really cool cover photo by my friend Oren Helbok. The official release date is 24 June 2022 but I'm taking pre-orders now if you want to get yours reserved ahead of time. PRE-ORDER HERE

This months free download is an out-take from a May 2019 session. I was recording tracks with for my 30th Anniversary album Work My Claim. This is one of the songs that didn't make the cut, but I love this old Buddy Miller song and the interplay between my guitar and Aaron's fiddle. The whole Brooks & Aaron thing came about from this moment in this session! The link to the song is at the bottom of this email.
