Sweet Greens & Blues is a song by folk legend Shirley Collins. It's the title track to the new recording that Aaron Catlow and I are touring right now. I love the lyrics and lean into them every time I sing it. Someone jokingly said to me recently that it must be a song about weed. But I can assure you it's not. It's way, way deeper than that. The song that is about weed on our new recording is Molly Tuttle's Dooley's Farm. And speaking of farming, for all you agricultural types, there's Gillian Welch's Red Clay Halo. And that's just the tip of the iceberg lettuce. We're loving the Greens & Blues tour and hope you can join us. Details below in the TOUR DATES section of this rapturous email. Meanwhile, here's Aaron and I digging-in in Gunthorpe the other night. It was a sweet, sweet gig!

In the Autumn my friend Vera van Heeringen and I are touring a show called Song Roots. The concerts will be presented in the Acoustic-Americana-Songwriter-In-The-Round style, so that means you can expect to be treated to duets as well as solos from both of us. There'll be songs, harmonies, acoustic guitars and mandolin. We've been busy beavering away since December learning each other's songs. (Here's are some videos from our very, very, very first rehearsal…Big Sky….Hoping To Find…..Sleep Song….Bells Of Every Chapel….thanks to Jock for filming this rehearsal for us!) We'll debut a couple of our even newer songs on main stage at Ely Folk Festival 2024 on Sunday afternoon, 14 July.

I had the great honour of being interviewed by FS Larman on KPFK's Folkscene recently. Some of you may have heard it live if you live on the West Coast of the USA….but it'll be online for the next few days. Here's a link to KPFK's Folkscene LISTEN AGAIN feature. Search for the April 21, 2024 show.
